Resume Summary Versus Resume Profile

Many people use these terms interchangeably, but is there a difference between the two? One thing is clear - this section is crucial regardless of the subheading used. Consider it as your #elevatorpitch to a potential employer in written format. Essentially, if you had one minute and one minute only to discuss your background with the decision makers for a job you really want, what information would you tell them?
Then, transition that information into a written format. I prefer using bullet points in the Summary, but some people prefer paragraph format. Just don’t make that paragraph so long that people won’t read it.
Additionally, the Professional Summary or Profile section can encompass your entire background, not just the most recent details. It can be compared to a book summary, which provides an overview of the entire book rather than focusing solely on the first or last chapter. This enables job seekers to present their most marketable points concisely in the initial section of the resume.
